Aim:

We aimed to evaluation of the approach of the dentists and doctors in Tekirdag city to the concept of malpractices and their information about this subject.

Materials and Methods:

A survey conducted on May-July 2013 including 414 doctors and dentists in Tekirdag -except the university and private hospitals – who approved to take part in the study. The results are evaluated statistically.

Results:

The age of the participants who joined to the survey changes between 23-63 and the average is 38,49±8,75. 64.6% of the participants are constituted by men (n=265 men), 35.4 % of them are women. (n=145) 52.7% of the participants are practitioner doctor (n=216), 29.8% of them are expert doctor (n=122) and 17.5% of the participants are dentists (n=72) 20.5% of the doctors answered “Yes” to the question of “Do you have enough information about the legal arrangements on malpractices?” while the rest 79.5 % of them says “No”.

Conclusion:

It is determined that, the doctors especially after graduation from the Medical Faculty and in the period of Post-Expertise, while they are carrying out their profession they mainly have interest in medical subjects rather than the legal sides of the applications and its details. We think that by the agency of in-service training- which is done periodically according to their fields-doctors and dentists would carry out their profession by actual information on their profession and its legal dimensions which would lead them to be more sensitive on malpractice cases.
