ABSTRACT

Aim

We aimed to represent the upper and lower GİS endoscopic examinations performed by a single operatör.

Material and Methods

A total of 8453 cases were evaluated retrospectively their examinations were done in two different hospital endoscopy unit between 2006-2014 years.

Results

Upper GIS endoscopic examination was applied to 6912 patients and lower GİS endoscopic examination applied to 1541 patients. İn upper GİS examinations; 3871 (56%) of patients were male and 3041 (44%) of patients were female, mean age was 48.6 years for male and 46.3 years for female. İn lower GİS examinations 823 (53.4%) of patients were male and 718 (46.6%) of patients were female, mean age was 50.6 years for male and 48.2 years for female. The malignant disease were observed in 1.4 % of upper and 3.5 % of lower GİS examinations.

Conclusion

Endoscopic examinations can be done safely by educated surgeons besides gastroenterologist.
